Real Estate Litigation
Shreveport Real Estate and Boundary Disputes Lawyer
Because of the rich natural resources in the land in northern Louisiana, boundary disputes and cases of adverse possession potentially involve large amounts of money and become highly charged issues for litigation. Successful resolution requires the extensive experience and depth of knowledge that we offer at the law firm of G. Warren Thornell.
G. Warren Thornell has practiced law since 1970, and has authored the National Business Institute publications Boundary Law in Louisiana and Mastering Real Estate Titles and Title Insurance in Louisiana, demonstrating an unusually deep grasp of real estate law as it applies to the state of Louisiana. Mr. Thornell frequently lectures on the subject of boundary disputes and also on the subject of tax sales and the validity of such tax sales following a Sheriff's Sale as well as questions related to tax redemption issues and monition suits.
We handle cases of adverse possession, in which a neighbor who begins tending another's land, and continues to do so for a number of years, may be able to claim ownership of it. In the event that the land holds natural resources, the original owner is likely to file suit. We have extensive experience in adverse possession litigation involving unmarked boundaries on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants.
We examine servitudes and mineral titles, render opinions, and correct defects or flaws. We interpret deeds and commercial land leases and represent buyers in tax sale cases in which a property reverted to the parish due to non-payment of taxes.
From our offices in Shreveport, Louisiana, we represent clients throughout northern Louisiana, including the communities of Bossier, Mansfield, Homer, Benton, and Minden; Caddo, Bossier, Desoto, Webster, and Claiborne Parishes; and Barksdale Air Force Base.
We offer highly knowledgeable and professional legal counsel in a complex and specialized area of the law. If you have questions about a boundary dispute, adverse possession, or a title, deed, or lease, we invite you to contact our offices for experienced and skillful legal representation.
